Please be patient with me with the pictures, our animals don't exactly pose for me and I have to take the shot sometimes even if the backround isn't the prettiest but I will be updating photos as I can.  We've been doing a lot of construction and of course goats being goats, they can't help themselves but to play on or with our supplies.  Our mini horse Rosie has actually walked away with our tools while we were working.  It is never boring around here!

A word about Oberhasli's, a medium sized swiss breed of dairy goat.  Oberhasli's make a great cross with our Nigerians, the offspring carries the gentle nature of both breeds, the delicate and graceful look of a fawn and the mini's produce a lot more milk than a pure Nigerian but with less fat.  It also takes a whole lot less to feed a mini Oberhasli than it does to feed a full sized dairy goat, our Paprika will eat up to four pounds of pellets when she is in full lactation.  While our little Nigerians seem to get fat on air, they are so easy to keep weight on, especially during the winter months.  A full sized Oberhasli can give up to two gallons of milk a day when she is in peak production, too much for most families but the little Nigerians usually only give about a quart a day in peak lactation.  When you only have a couple of Nigerians, the effort to milk them hardly seems worth it some days when you're only getting 1/2 a quart in the morning and 1/2 a quart in the evening.  The mini's are a wonderful mix of both great qualities of these wonderful breeds, more milk, less fat, and much easier to keep weight on too.

A Craigslist ad and an idea came together for us this past summer.  The ad was for a young Oberhasli doe, a breed of goat that is both beautiful and productive and one that we've been interested in for a long time.  After a very brief discussion we made contact with the farm and brought home Paprika.  She is like the Tyra Banks of our little herd of goats, even down to her long black "stockings"!  She is registered with the ADGA and her offspring will be registered with the Miniature Dairy Goat Association as "experimental" or first generation mini Oberhalsi.   We are very excited about this new adventure.  She is shown her with her first kid, a black, blue eyed buckling we named Eclisp.  Paprika's previous owner just informed us that her mom won a Grand Championship and her aunt came in second.  We are very lucky to have such a wonderful goat in our little herd and her kids are just fantastic.

Paprika gave birth to a perfect little mini me on March 15.  He is a little lighter than his mom and has no white on him anywhere. There is no mistaking that he is an Oberhasli.  He has the most outgoing personality too, he is going to be a real charmer when he is older.  FS $100.00  --Sold***Thank you Wendy!**

Creekside Farm Starry Night from Creekside Farm in Liberty KY.  Night has blue eyes.

Squiggy from Happy Tailz in Mayville, MI.  He carries some really terrific milking line genes in him and look at that his structure.  Squiggy has personality and presence to spare!  He is all boy!

Cleo is a black doe from Antiquity Oaks. I am very impressed with our tiny little Cleo, although she is small she has a great udder and gives us up to a quart of milk a day.  Cleo delivered twin boys today, 12/25/10, yes Christmas Day!

Here are her two, twin bucklings...

This is boy # 1, His sire is Squiggy. He is for sale for $50.00 and will be ready to go by February 18th.  He has been wethered.  ***The twins have been sold-Thank you Kim!**

Here is boy #2- he is for sale for $50.00 and will be ready to leave by Feb 18 like his brother.  He has not been wethered just yet and so if someone wants him as a buckling then he will be $100.00 intact and with registration papers from AGS.  His family line has very good dairy genetics and he will be small. ***Sold, Thank you Kim!***

Cleo delivered twin doelings on Jan 13, 2010.  What a wonderful surprise!  We don't normally plan for winter deliverys but Cleo, Kona and a couple of our girls had other ideas.  The above picture is Sprite at two days old.  She is the larger of the two girls.  Sprite is $250.00.  **Update Sprite has been sold-Thank you Anita and Tim!**

Meet Sheila, our littlest doeling born here ever!  She was barely a pound when she was born, this picture is of her at two days old.  She is growing like a weed now, mostly due to Cleo being such a great mom and producing very rich milk.  Sheila is for sale for $300.00  **Sheila has been sold-Thank you Anita and Tim**

Cleo delivered a wonderful black and white doeling on May 28th.  The little doeling has frosted ears, a white cap and is black and white with a white tail.  Good job Cleo!    **Update**Trixie went to her new home yesterday, Aug 7, 09.  Thank you Nick!

Taboo is out of Patience (who has passed away) and sired by Night.

After a lot of thought, we decided to bring in one more Nigerian doe.  Meet Splash, she is from Culleden Farm near Madison, Wisconsin.  Her mom won Grand Champion Nigerian Dwarf at the Waukesha County Fair in '09.  We are so proud to have her as part of our herd, thank you so much Paula!  Not only does this little girl carry with her some very strong milking genetics but she is gorgeous to boot too.

Splash gave birth to a very handsome little buckling on December 26th-yes the day after Christmas!  He is a splashy, tricolor buckskin like mom but with a bit more white on him.  By pure luck I got this nice photo of Splash giving Ace a little kiss.  **Sold, thank you Kim!***

Eclisp looks a little creepy in this photo but I remind you again that they do not pose for me.  I try to take their pictures the best I can but sometimes they seem to do their best to just look weird no matter how much I try to sweet talk them into standing nicely.  He really is a beautiful and correct buck.  Plus he is still growing and at this point was going through an awkard stage.  I will try to get some better pictures of him.   He is for sale for $100.00

Prices:  Does $250-300 depending on quality, Bucks price will be determined. Wethers are $40-$60 depending on quality. We will not take reservations for kids until March 2011. If you are interested in reserving a kid please send us an email to heck6100@t6b.com or you can call me direct on my cell phone, 815-274-8058. We do reserve the right to refuse a sale or to retain any kid.  We will not sell any kid by herself or himself, goats are herd animals and cannot be without another of their kind.  Although goats are easy to care for there is more to it than just feeding and watering.  Nigerians, like other dairy goats, have higher than average need for copper.  We recommend and use Kent Goat Mineral and Kent Goat Pellets.  All our kids will stay on mom for at least six weeks.  Kids will leave here with their first CDT shot, dewormed, dehorned, hooves trimmed, and registration papers.  We will help you with any questions you might have with concerns with feeding and caring for one of our goats.
